National Tsing Hua University 2026 Graduation Ceremony: Selection Guidelines for Graduates Representative Speech
- Organizer: Office of Academic Affairs, National Tsing Hua University
- Purpose: To encourage graduates to actively pursue opportunities of delivering speeches, the university is conducting a campus-wide selection process for all graduating students to determine both the speech content and the representative for the Class of 2026.
- Eligibility and Submission Guidelines: Open to all graduating students, including master’s, doctoral and undergraduate students with separate selection processes for graduate and undergraduate participants. Speeches should be within 5 minutes and can be delivered solo or as a duo.
The first-place winner will have the opportunity to deliver speech on stage and must provide both Chinese and English versions of the speech. The university’s Division of Student Assistance will offer support and guidance for rehearsals.
4. Evaluation Criteria:
(1) Content (50%): Engaging, well-organized, thoughtful composition, and creative.
(2) Expressiveness (30%): Fluent and coherent delivery, lively tone, and adept use of body language.
(3) Stage Presence (20%): Neat attire and graceful demeanor.
5. Prizes:
(1) 1st Place: 2,000 NTD
(2) 2nd Place: 1,500 NTD
(3) 3rd Place: 1,000 NTD
If no candidate meets the required standard, the position will remain vacant. For duo speeches, the prize will be evenly split between both speakers.
6. Submission, Deadline, and Announcement:
(1) Submission Period: Submissions are open starting from today. Please email your speech as an attachment (.doc format) to grad@my.nthu.edu.tw. The email subject line and the title of the Word file should be “Graduates’ Representative Speech Submission-graduate/undergraduate-abbreviation of the department-name.”
(2) Deadline: April 14, 2026, Tuesday. The organizer may extend the deadline based on the number of submissions.
(3) Selection Process: The organizer will conduct a review of the submissions. Those who pass the first stage will be invited to the final round. The list of winners is expected to be announced on the Office of Academic Affairs website by May 15, Friday. Winners will be notified individually by email, while other participants will not be notified.
7. Important Notes:
(1) The authors of awarded works retain both moral rights and property rights. They grant National Tsing Hua University the right to use and sublicense the work in any manner, at any place, and at any time during the copyright period, without the need for compensation. This authorization cannot be revoked by the author.
(2) Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Any work found to be plagiarized or infringing on the rights of others will result in disqualification, retrieval of prizes, and public disclosure of the infringement. Participants bear full legal responsibility for any consequences arising from their submissions.
8. For any matters not addressed in these regulations, additional information will be provided and announced on the Office of Academic Affairs website.
